American Revolution

General Burgoyne was overconfident and skilled. He realized that winning the war was going to be more difficult than he thought. After seven years of war came effective American victory on the battlefield in October 1781, with British recognition of the United States' independence and sovereignty in 1783.

5 minutes of my life

I arrive at school; everyone is obnoxious. It's to early for me, and I'm cranky. My friends run up and greet me, but I give them a glare. I don't talk to anyone; I speed walk to my 1st period. When I got there I threw my backpack down and sat with an attitude. The first bell rung and students are swarming around trying to get to their first class. I was relieved, first period started sooner than I thought.

Movie.

The Pilgrims were a small group of people who made a great impact on world history. Pilgrims got their first look at the New World when they saw Cape Cod. The Pilgrim group had permission to settle in the northern part of Virginia. When the "Mayflower" turned south, however, it ran into rough, shallow waters and became in danger of tipping over and sinking. It was quickly decided to head back to the deeper, safer waters off the tip of Cape Cod.

John adams

John Adams was an American politician. John Adams came in the early stages of the American Revolution. In 1770, a street confrontation resulted in British Soldiers killing five civilians in what became known as the Boston Massacre. They asked John Adams to defend them. Although John Adams feared it would hurt his reputation, he agreed. Two British soldiers were charged with murder for shooting directly into the crowd. Thomas Preston, gave John Adams a symbolic "single guinea" as a retaining fee, the only fee John Adams received in the case.

To kill a mocking bird

The movie, To Kill A Mockingbird was remarkable.
All the characters; Scout, Jem, Calpurnia, Dill, and they're father were great actors.
Scout is somewhat of a tomboy. She is not afraid to put up a fight for her beliefs. She is smart for her age and has trouble in school because she can already read and write when she starts first grade. Jean Louise plays Scout (the main character)and for her age at that time, she was a great actress.
Thomas "Tom" Robinson is a 25-year-old black man who is accused of assaulting and raping Mayella Ewell. He is defended by Atticus Finch in his trial. As noticed by Scout, his left arm is useless and shriveled, which shows that it is not likely he beat Mayella because the bruises were on the right side of her face. He is found guilty of rape and is sentenced to death. I believe that he doesn't deserve that and Mayella Ewell was exaggerating the story.

JT's story and my own life

Johnny Tremain in the beginning lived with his owners Mrs. and Mr. Lapham. Johnny worked all day; starting the fire, milking the cows, fetching water, etc. Until one day Johnny fell and burnt his hand on the furnace. They unwrapped his hand a few days later and discovered his thumb was connected to his palm. The Laphams were horrified and kicked him out for he couldn't help out anymore. He searched for days looking for jobs. He finally found a job as a printer. Johnny slept by his mother's grave because he had no other place to stay.

My life is a lot different. I go to school everyday (except the weekend) for 5 hours and 35 minutes. I come home, work on homework then help out around my house. I don't work as hard as Johnny, because most of my days are taking up by school. When I do have some free time, I'm usually enjoying days outside exploring or hanging out with good friends.
